The Carbonic recipe for a perfect fog effect
If you want a full fog effect in a room (make sure there is adequate ventilation), add hot water and dry ice in the ratio 1 liters of hot water to 150 grams of dry ice and this should last for a few minutes. Let’s say you have a ten-liter bucket you would need about 2 kg dry ice added just at the time when you need the most fog and this would last for a few minutes. This would spread to about 10-15 feet and you would get a truly thrilling effect! Repeat the process with hot water each time. If you want a truly fab evening you could go for 25 kg dry ice.

HOW DRY ICE CREATES FOG:
Dry ice is solid carbon dioxide which is constantly sublimating from the time it is produced. As soon as you add water (the hotter the water the faster the sublimation and more fog) to dry ice pellets you will instantly generate a white mist like fog. HOW LONG DOES DRY ICE LAST FOR?
Normally 2 to 4 minutes! Dry ice fog effects are best served in short surprising bursts that will amaze and wow your guests. Once again, as soon as the dry ice is immersed in hot water the water will cool down and the colder the water gets, the effects will disappear so ensure that you empty the contents after the first session and prepare fresh hot water for your containers for the next effect.
Should I add water first or the dry ice?
It doesn’t really matter but for the large special fog effects with hot water it is simpler to add the ice first followed by water. Avoid leaving dry ice in a container for more than a few minutes as the ice will start to evaporate.
